#ScribesAndMakers 7/22. Show us something you've created. Tell us the story behind it.

Back in 2021, I decided that trying to reproduce movie scenes would be a good way to develop my DazStudio skills. So one of my rules was that everything had to be generated in Daz - no images if it could be avoided.

I did quite a few but one of the simplest, the Wesley/Buttercup kiss against the sun from The Princess Bride, was also one of the hardest.

So I had to figure out how to produce that sky using DazStudio objects. And I did.

No post processing just pure Daz.

#ScribesAndMakers 7/15. How's your creativity going? Do you need help? Would you like to share a paragraph or image for critique?

I'm always interested in what people have to say so here's the first paragraph of my WIP - what do you think? (You may have seen it before.)

The band was crap but Geeta didn’t care. The air was thick with heat and sweat, and it stank of weed. People crashed against her as she pogoed to the thudding bass and drum while the lead guitar screamed hate-filled anti-government slogans.

Continued thread

Spent a few hours on the internet wayback machine searching for 3D webrings and old 3d artist sites, but it wasn't very fruitful since most images were not preserved.

The name "Igor Posavec" rang a bell. He still has a homepage which even shows this old-school artwork I so fondly remember: igorposavec.com/project/dystop

Seems like I need to accept that this part of the internet has just disappeared until somebody with more time on their hands will unearth it for a video essay 🥲

The "OSM-Toolbox" should be usable with any #Rust #3DRender. Firstly the #Bevy #bevy_engine was used. Just as a 3D renderer or fully including the Asset loader to access tie OSM API. And only the last one builds to #wasm

Now I used a renderer, I did know: #Rend3
As it is archived, it had some high-ups, then it was done in little hours.

But no WASM build yet 😥 Like with plain rust: How to build wasm with async main? Any help would be appreciated!

Do you like another renderer? Let's use it!

#introduction
Hi, it's me -karlos-
mindly.social/@karlos
I like #Rust and #OpenStreetMap and #3Drender, so my new project is the a toolbox in #RustLang to create apps for #OSM

The example is an OSM-Building-Inspector (OBI)
The repository is (yet) on GitHub: github.com/DerKarlos/obi
You may, most times, be able to test OBI at
osmgo.org/bevy.html?way=369161
It's all very Beta! It needs >30 seconds to load, firstly only after a reload.
Put the OSM way ID, you would like to inspect. Use arrow keys.
