I've bargained with my daughter today that if she pulls all the weeds out of our landscaping this week, I would set-up a Band Camp account for her and then gift her everything in the discography of one of her favorite artists. Little does she know that every one of those albums and singles are PWYW...

So, #TheMidnight, a popular (read: genre-defining, seminal, prototypical) #synthwave group, is coming out with a new album, #Syndicate. Alas, all of the promotional material and singles for it, so far, have been either on their website (the LP) or on platforms that only offer streaming and/or DRM downloads, with the exception of #Qobuz and #BeatPort, which offer non-encumbered, DRM-free #FLAC downloads. So, that's where I got the track (Qobuz). It comes with a warning though:

I originally heard about Qobuz and BeatPort after numerous people kept pestering them for making announcements through the #BandCamp platform while never actually putting anything on BandCamp. It turns out, their latest label doesn't allow them to put stuff on BandCamp. Thankfully, they were at least transparent about this (after much pestering):

Estaba yo más bien mosca porque usaba el #Soulseek solo en un sentido, nunca nadie me cogía nada por mucho que lo dejara horas y horas abierto. Consulté con mi amigo informático y me dijo que de puerto cerrado nada, que solo había uno, y que once mil archivos eran pocos, que era muy mainstream (aquí fue a joder) ...y encima mp3!! Que la gente pilla sobre todo flac. Ay. Mi ego de musiquero quedó dañado, pero asumí que exhibía toooodo mi maltrecho puesto callejero y no le interesaba a nadie. Conflicto ético solucionado.
Estos días se ha operado el milajro, varios usuarios se han parado en mi humilde puesto... y sí, ha sido gracias a grupos raros y patrios como Ciudad Lineal o Glitter (el otro no me acuerdo xD).
Etoas formas tranquilo, porque siempre alterno bajadas con compras, si todo el mundo gastase lo que gasto al año en #Bandcamp y camisetas en los conciertos, otro gallo cantariese.

Sounds GODDAMN amazing
I discovered FRACTALIZE a while ago, and it is the most heavy, crunchy and syncopated metal I've ever heard. I love it.
I thought maybe it was some well known player's sideproject or something, but no, it's someone in Chișinău, Moldova (I think it's one person, a guitar or 10 and a computer).
Il y a 10 ans disparissait le musicien japonais Susumu Yokota. Dans les années 90 il réinventa l'#ambient et la #house. Ses trouvailles, ses sons ont ravi les dj de tout horizon. Lui le casanier se retrouva globe-trotter et mixait un peu partout dans le monde, la consacration lui vient de Berlin lorsqu'il fut invité à la Love Parade de 1994. Son album Sakura sorti en 1999 a été élu meilleur album de musique électronique par The Wire. Une référence donc. Musicien prolifique, il a sorti des dizains d'album. Un peu difficile donc de s'y retrouver dans cette jungle discographique.
Mais le label londonien Lo Recordings a l'excellente idée de rééditer son oeuvre et notamment de découvrir l'inventivité foisonnante de ce musicien dans un superbe coffret.
