A quotation from Robert Ingersoll
Is it desirable that all should be exactly alike in their religious convictions? Is any such thing possible? Do we not know that there are no two persons alike in the whole world? No two, trees, no two leaves, no two anythings that are alike? Infinite diversity is the law. Religion tries to force all minds into one mould. Knowing that all cannot believe, the church endeavors to make all say they believe. She longs for the unity of hypocrisy, and detests the splendid diversity of individuality and freedom.
Robert Green Ingersoll (1833-1899) American lawyer, agnostic, orator
Lecture (1873-12) “Individuality,” Chicago Free Religious Society

"The increasingly diverse students in the United States want to know the histories of their communities, and those who don’t come from those communities need to know their histories as well, because in doing so they are learning the stories of their neighbors and fellow Americans. The bell can’t be un-rung."

"Federal staffing cuts initiated by the administration and the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, purged vital departments of institutional knowledge and expertise.
But Trump’s firing of the BLS chief escalated his administration’s attack on information."

"The second Trump administration has spent its first months trying to rewrite America’s story into a whitewashed, ahistorical national account. Officials yanked down and removed racial and ethnicity breakdowns from a federal employee database, took federal government datasets offline, and blocked the release of a report that projected a trade deficit for farm goods."

"It’s this America that Donald Trump and his movement hope to condemn to the ash heap of history. It’s this America that they’re fighting to destroy with their attacks on immigration, civil rights laws, higher education and the very notion of a pluralistic society of equals."
"But for all its harsh notes and discord, this was the closest the country ever came to the 'composite nation' of Frederick Douglass’s aspirations: a United States that served as home to all who might seek the shelter of the Declaration of Independence and its 'principles of justice, liberty and perfect humanity equality.'”
