1/3🧵: This is how #protest movements reach a #tippingpoint 🥲. #Edinburgh #university, a #uni that was named in the #UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese's report about #Gaza #genocide enablers, saw its PhD #students walk out en masse from their own #graduation ceremony on Friday. Hear those who think they are the majority shout "shut up" until they come to realise the majority is loudly, clearly and beautifully supporting #Palestine and #divestment.

TelegramThe Cradle⭕️ Shipping giant Maersk to divest from firms linked to illegal Israeli West Bank settlements Danish shipping giant Maersk announced it will sever ties with companies connected to illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, following mounting pressure from Palestinian rights activists, particularly the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM). The statement on their website read: “Following a recent review of transports related to the West Bank, we further strengthened our screening procedures in relation to Israeli settlements, including aligning our screening process with the OHCHR database of enterprises involved in activities in the settlements.” The move, aligned with the UN human rights database, comes amid scrutiny of Maersk’s role in transporting goods tied to settlements and US military sales to Israel. While PYM welcomed the decision as a step toward accountability, it condemned Maersk’s continued involvement in the F-35 supply chain, accusing the company of profiting from the genocide in Gaza.

We’re not going to get out of this simply by voting with our wallets, but still, we might at least try and hurt the fuckers in the only place they feel any pain…

(And don’t get me started on “European Values”. No, we don’t get a gold star while letting refugees drown off our coasts and being complicit in the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people. We’re just not fully fascist yet and might just avoid it… maybe. It’s a pretty fucking low bar.)

I'm afraid that my work won't let me divorce from Microsoft and Apple... As for Google, I've switched my main email address from GMail to ProtonMail but I'm afraid that I can't really fully drop that one either... I mean, I'm getting rid of my Tesla but the new car that's on its way has Android Automotive so the car itself is basically an Android device... It's got its grubby little tentacles in everything!
