Latest update from the Refaat Alareer Camp of the Sameer Project, Sun August 03: New family welcomed & daily meals provided!

"The famine is affecting everyone in Gaza including the families in the Refaat Alareer camp but we are doing our best to provide daily meals as well as extra nutrition to the 4 special cases of malnutrition that we have in the camp. We've also had 2 families evacuate last week: little Sanad left with his mother and brother to get treatment in Spain leaving their dad behind and little Amro who left with his father to France leaving his mother and siblings behind. Unfortunately, the military occupation does this often with medical evacuations, splitting families apart for an undefined period of time. The family members remaining in Gaza stay under our care in Refaat Alareer camp."

Wed Aug. 6th: Quarter million dollars spent in 10 days providing thousands of meals!

"The imposed famine remains ongoing and the situation remains difficult. Our ground team is tired but insist to keep going. To support them we provide them with extra nutrition during working hours and provide additional workers who we pay a one-off fee to. Giving them a way to support the community is what keeps our team going as they always tell us. Keep in mind very little aid has gotten in in the last 10 days through air drops and gaza humanitarian foundation - both methods murdering hundreds of people in the process."

"Everything we source, purchase, and provide is already in Gaza. But stocks are running out. This is why otherwise free medication and supplies are sold at exorbitant prices and must be searched for across numerous pharmacies and medical suppliers. We have the network of nurses and doctors to help us provide what others cant. This work should be done by large relief organizations and iNGOs but because of the difficulty operating in Gaza and since the borders are closed, many are rendered useless and it has fallen on The Sameer Project to fill the gaps left by them."

25th July: 156,000 liters of water, 1,966 kilos of vegetables and 17 tents in 5 days!

"The last five days since the last update have been horrifingly difficult. Finding any food has been extremely hard and our inboxes are exploding with families begging for food for their children. The Sameer Project team mobilized immediately and prioritized the sick children in Refaat Alareer camp, malnutrition department in Al Aqsa hospital and the complex cases of malnutritioned people that we have."

Mensen kunnen ook o.a. zelf doneren aan Palestijnse 'mutual aid' groepen in Gaza die met veel inzet mensen nog van water, eten, en zelfs wat medische zorg kunnen voorzien:

Ook hier op de Fediverse zijn er Palestijnen die geld inzamelen om op de zwarte markt voor heel veel geld nog wat voedsel voor hun families te kopen. Ondanks de honger en vernietiging zijn er nog steeds bijna 2 miljoen mensen die iedere dag vechten om te overleven.
