This #VolcanoThursday is the 61th birthday of Surtsey a #volcanic island 30km S of #Iceland. It's named after Surtr a fire giant in northern mythology. The eruption ended June 1967. Only scientists are allowed to #hedgewatch there
Today I found a Glückssteindepot-a lucky rock depot-during my #hedgewatch close to the #AletschGlacier/#AletschGletscher. A place where you can deposit small rocks and in return you get lucky. I have put some #rocks in for my friends
Today we are again on #Lanzarote for #VolcanoThursday. This place is called #CiudadEstratificada-#StratifiedCity. Its a bizzare #landscape purrfect for #hedgewatch & made of layers of #volcanic ash. The layers #weathering resistance is varying - thus the shapes.

Today is #VolcanoThursday some years ago my humans were on #hedgewatch on #Lanzarote & walked a #geology themed #hiking path in the #Parque natural de los #Volcanes. They found this huge #VolcanicBomb the visible part is about 6 meters high. Because its a park my humans did Not take it home as a #souvenir
Today during their weekly shopping #hedgewatch my humans met this smart #sparrow The little one got a job in #QualityAssurance in the local #petstore. I am so proud of you my feathery friend
Today some #geology from my #hedgewatch on the #Seychelles. There most #rocks belong to the #granite's & exist of #quartz, #feldspar (FSP), & #mica. Granites aren't happy in warm & humid #climate's because the FSP weathers very fast away. This is a supaw exciting example with only the quartz grains being left
