Missed the zombie fingers stage of hosta. Green and green and green.
Missed the zombie fingers stage of hosta. Green and green and green.
Happy Saturday, y'all.
When the country seems to be swimming in its own sea of regurgitated bile, you'll find me in our garden.
People will voluntarily chain themselves to their own particular demon of choice and then moan when they don't get what they were promised.
Yawn!
Our first #peony has opened up today. This is Early Windflower, and I love the simplicity of it.
We have a few Saunders cultivars, and I love them all.
Our #hostas are also starting to look impressive, too.
Current #hostas situation.
All of my #flowering hostas are behind with blooming this year. Been a slow & cooler start to Spring.

My purple #hostas are all sporting new #FlowerBuds
All hostas are fully #edible - from root to shoots to stems to foliage to flowers. Roots/shoots/leaves taste like combo of asparagus & endives - cook them up, in similar ways. Flowers can be sugared & they taste like raw honey.
The zombie fingers (hosta shoots) have mostly turned into pretty groups of green leaves! There are still a few in progress.
And here is a close-up of where the leaves were pulled.
When I mentioned the damage caused to hostas by the Basset Hounds, this is an example. They grab as many leaves as they can as I am rushing them past the hostas on lead at the start of the walk. They end up eating only one or two leaves as we get going, but the damage is done.
We have some lovely new #hostas this year that I got from a few new places...notably Rewela Hostas in Yorkshire and Bali Hai Nurseries in Northern Ireland.
This one is called Green Lava.
You get these lime green wiggly edged leaves with red stems to boot.
Leaves turn green by midsummer.
The plant habit is louche, wayward and flowing.
What's not to like.

More hostas for your delectation and delight.
Enjoy your day, wherever you all are.
I suppose this photo should come with a content warning as it's now hosta season in our garden, so there will be alot of hosta photos over the next few months.
Apologies for any psychological harm that this may cause.
