@Anuj Ahooja Friendica has had full support for formatted long-form articles since its inception 15 years ago. The same goes for all its surviving descendants, created by the same developer: Hubzilla from 2015, (streams) from 2021, Forte from 2024. In addition, Hubzilla can be used to post federating long-form articles (which are automatically sent to Fediverse connections and Atom feed subscribers) and optionally also to post non-federating long-form articles (which aren't sent anywhere).

Friendica has also been able to subscribe to both RSS and Atom feeds since its inception. The same goes for Hubzilla.

This is not new to the Fediverse at all.

See also my Mastodon vs Friendica, Hubzilla, (streams) and Forte feature comparison tables here: https://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/item/0a75de76-eb27-4149-b708-f20b2f79d392. (By the way: This is a non-federating Hubzilla article.)

"When we first got ActivityPub working in Ghost, sent out the first newsletter that went out directly to the fediverse, likes started coming *into* Ghost ... The place where you push 'publish', started getting notifications, seeing people are replying, people are liking, people are reposting. And it sounds very contrived, but it was like a lightbulb moment ..."

-- America’s Mouth Is Full of Blood --

Metal scrapes enamel. That specific sound teeth make when hygienist finds the tender spot. My mouth stretched wide by latex fingers and chrome instruments. Can’t speak. Can’t swallow. Can’t look away from the ceiling TV where CNN scrolls red banners about political assassination.

“Just a little pressure here,” she says, digging deeper.

Minnesota lawmaker dead. Husband dead. Second lawmaker critical.

The suction tube gurgles pink water. Taste of iron and mint. My tongue trapped under dental dam while democracy bleeds out on mute television. Perfect fucking symmetry.

Phone in pocket buzzes against hip bone. Can’t check it. Hands gripping armrests like I’m falling out of a republic.

“You’ve got some buildup on the lower incisors,” hygienist continues, oblivious or indifferent to the news crawl. “Have you been flossing?”

Assassination at 2 AM. Man dressed as cop. AK-style weapons. The details drip into consciousness like novocaine, numbing everything they touch. I try to nod about flossing but the tools prevent movement. Democracy’s molars crumble while I can’t even close my jaw.

Melissa Hortman. Dead at scene. Multiple gunshot wounds.

The overhead light burns retinal afterimages. Hygienist hums something unrecognizable. Country music or hymn or both. Her gloved fingers taste like institutional latex, that specific medical flavor of enforced vulnerability. I breathe through my nose. Count ceiling tiles. Try not to think about how this same helplessness scales up to continental collapse.

If you have any interest in how the Global #Economy works and how the Trump #Tarrifs will impact the #IT industry then check out this documentary by @gamersnexus

While it concentrates on the retail IT space many of the topics and discussions with manufacturers and importers worldwide will also impact on #InfoSec and corporate IT.

This is a long documentary as it's a complex topic with many aspects that I and you probably didn't take into account 🫢

-- Constitutional Spitroast --

The legal language glows on my laptop. Bloodless. Technical. “The Secretary of Defense may determine those military activities that are reasonably necessary and appropriate.”

Reasonable…

Appropriate…

Words still dressed in their Sunday best while weekend passes expired for constitutional separation of powers.

Weather alert flashes. Storm warnings. Barometric collapse. Democracy depression incoming from the southwest. Pressure dropping inside my skull in time with atmospheric systems.

Trump’s order hands federal land to the military. Creates “military installations” on US territory. Gives Pentagon jurisdiction over American soil with rules of engagement drafted by generals, not legislators. Legal document reads like necropsy report for republic that died without anyone noticing. Constitution didn’t flatline dramatically. Just got quietly rewritten in bureaucrat-ese while Americans argued about gas prices.

Recursive Blasphemy · Constitutional SpitroastBy pixelnull

Since I learned about it in the late 90s I've been kind of in love with #Antioch College. However, like several of the people I loved in high school, I still don't know much about it. I've been reminded of it now, and am greedily devouring the wikipedia page. I was under a few misconceptions, including the idea that it was dead. It's not dead! I think!?

I'm very interested in learning what it's like to be a #student or #professor there. I am fascinated by #AlternativeCollege situations in #highered.

If, by any chance, anyone who sees this is or was any of the following:

  • A prof
  • A student
  • An administratorI'd love to exchange some messages.

And if you know of any #documentary or #longform #journalism about Antioch (I'm searching...), especially in the past 20 years, please let me know. I'm super interested.

Swap out some mindless scrolling for this post, I bet you learn something or, at the very least, find it interesting.

Being wrong—really wrong—is actually a great way to figure out what’s really right. In this post I cover health, socialising, rationality, information and being 'nice'.

Prove me wrong, I love it 🙏🏿

By Hand · Five Things I Was Wrong About (Until I Was Right)The truth matters. But I’ve learned that getting to it usually means being wrong first. And being wrong—really wrong—is the best way to figure out what’s actually right. Because of that, I don’t get too attached to what I believe—just to the idea that

Clarification of my #introduction

I will post my #poetry, explications of #scienceFiction and #ethics, notes and memos, and #longform posts. #Humanities background. I type everything I write, except poetry. I write poems with #fountainPens on dot grid notebooks. I sometimes make revisions transcribing my poetry. I will share morning reads in #ecology and #astronomy. Independent and ongoing #research is related to Post-Violence Societies, feminist theology, and, still, space and place, after all these years. Large scholarly library, the majority of which is African American #history and progressive theology. Doing my best to live a post-growth lifestyle.
