In celebration of World Metrology Day this week (May 20), here's "The proclamation regarding weights and measures, 1556", a mural by Ford Madox Brown completed c.1893, depicting the announcement that the residents of Manchester "shall send in all manner of weights and measures to be tried by their Majesties standard". The announcement seems to be received about as well as you might expect.

Dem gemeinen Bürger ist das vielleicht weniger bekannt, dass im industriellen Umfeld #CT zum abtasten von Teilen und Baugruppen verwendet werden und die daraus generierten 3D-Modelle für geometrische Messungen verwendet werden. Auch für regelmäßige produktionsbegleitende Messungen.

Torque wrenches have an adjustable spring which controls the number of foot pounds or newton meters at which the Falls click over and stop the tension on the nut from increasing.

Give the range is between twenty five and 250 ft lb, that spring had absolutely better be linear. This is 1-D linearity on the job.

My very basic LM399 ageing board I've chosen to socket the LM399 to reduce any thermal stress.
Hopefully in a few months they will be stable enough to make a good multimeter reference 👍
If I make another one I'll definitely include some better filtering and a diode for reverse polarity protection.

My budget electronics lab I’ve been putting together for the past year. The oscilloscope is a Hantek DSO2D10 which I’ve found to be good value with SCPI support.👍The big multimeter is a DATRON 1061 a metrology grade 5.5 digit multimeter. The multimeter on top is a 6.5 digit Solartron 7151 which I developed some #opensource software for. Thinking of replacing them both with something like a HP34401A. It’s amazing what you can find on eBay for not much money. #electronics #metrology #homelab
