I started painting a bowl of fruit, but I didn't like it. I tore everything apart and made a collage out of the scraps of paper. Now I like it. It looks like a mosaic.

The biggest mosaic I've made so far, this is 60x90cm and offers a message of hope or a warning about climate change, depending on the weather.

In 2012, archaeologists discovered in Southern Turkey a well-preserved mosaic featuring a skeleton savoring a loaf of bread and a pitcher of wine, surrounded by the Greek words “Be cheerful and live your life.” Dating back to the 3rd century BCE, the mosaic likely adorned the dining room of a wealthy villa in the ancient Greco-Roman city of Antioch.
Mosaics of scenes from the history of the Gardgad and Royston areas of Glasgow. Created by local community groups working with artist Jane McInally, they can be found in Spire Park surrounding the remains of the former Townhead-Blochairn Parish Church.
The famous Tree of Life mosaic (12th century) on the floor of the Cathedral of Otranto.
Created between 1163 and 1165 by a monk and considered the largest floor mosaic in Italy.

This resulted In an almost perfectly stereotypical passive aggressive stand off between the rat graffiti artist(s) and the city.
After numerous paint based graffiti tags about rats were removed, the artist took a turn for significantly more permanence.
A detailed mosaic homage to Hot Rat Summer appeared on the Cal Anderson Pump house.

And there it was: Hot Summer Rat.
I had to wait a little before taking the picture, as people were taking turns to walk on the edge of the pool all the way to the mosaic. Some were hanging out there, others taking selfies with St Rat. The edge of the pool was covered in chalk.
Love this threshold mosaic on the former National Bank of Scotland on St Enoch Square in Glasgow, especially the very subtle intertwined leaves. It probably dates from when the building was constructed in 1906.
