News from my homelab:

My single node OpenShift "cluster" is now running the nfs-ganesha-server-provisioner to provide ReadWriteMany storage to the OpenShift Virtualization, so I can run VMs in OpenShift!

(The nfs server is using a persistentVolume provided by Longhorn and makes this available as RWX storage. Don't talk about performance, but nice that this works...)

Currently looking into the documentation to see how I can actually make the VM reachable from the outside... :-)

Time to check your OpenShift Clusters...

And if you want to check your clusters in general for similar issues:

kubectl get clusterrolebindings.rbac.authorization.k8s.io -o json | jq '.items[] | select(.subjects[]?.name == "system:authenticated")'

You're welcome :)

The Register · 'Delightful' root-access bug in Red Hat OpenShift AI allows full cluster takeoverBy Jessica Lyons

During my time at AWS, I built automation for Neuron kernel modules on OpenShift. They need rebuilding for each OpenShift version, which creates ongoing maintenance work. My solution uses GitHub Actions with nightly builds and minimal container images. This removes the manual work and was part of a broader, still ongoing, effort to enable Neuron workloads on OpenShift.

I think I have an installable package for 's microshift for . First step on the way to maybe get 's micro version micro-okd to build for openSUSE, as that is based on microshift. They do funny patching in between. Not sure if I can get that working in our offline build environment.

And soon I will try to properly package the opentelemetry collector! We already have alloy packaged, but I want to understand how the hell their buils logic is. Three repositories and a special build tool were identified so far...

The next big thing we are working on is the option to role out dedicated instances per tenant, that are managed centrally.

Kind of like an IDP as a Service (Is a thing? )

Looking at my company's openshift docs and asking myself why IT is saying I should be using openshift for my internal app. Is it because they paid a lot for the licenses, support, and training?
