Today's scanner experiment. Printing some of the sources, grabbing stuff here and there in the house.

I guess a lot of people did this in the past, do you have any references of cool scanner works ?

I got a list of stuff I want to try, including scanning diapositives and fooling around with various types of geometries and fonts

I have a room. And in that room is a handmade workbench, an antique bureau and a sofa. Plus a bunch of hand tools, bits of electronics, all sorted of materials and books and incense.

It needs decorating. The wallpaper is coming off the walls and being repainted and the carpet is coming up and the floorboards are being stained. And one day some double doors to the courtyard are going to be put in.

But all that will take time. What you need to take from this is that it is my safe space.

In this space — my atelier — I’m gonna try making stuff to sell. Here’s how I’m explaining what I want to do:

I’ve tried to set it up to try to work with my ADHD*, hence a weird set of rules and restrictions around how it’s gonna operate. If I make things a side project and in short bursts, I’m more likely to do it.

I think this is my attempt to try and keep curiosity, creativity, experimentation, design and manufacture as part of my life on terms I can deal with.

Let’s see what happens.

A 1.5 hr drawing study of my friend before starting a painting... looks nice enough but feels scrappy because the likeness is not quite there. But the important part is that I learned about the likeness by doing this, and the painting will be closer. In theory.

started packing. ended up standing at the table for several hours repairing keyboards.

one of them has a sheared-off power switch, and it's a super small slide type. can't seem to glue the nub back on (the cross-sectional surface area is about 0.5x2mm. I tried gluing, but it broke right off again.)

guess I may need to unsolder it and find markings or measure everything. anyone have helpful pointers for finding replacement switches? not sure how to search for them, other than it seems to be a SPDT. And it seems like the middle of the three legs (asymmetrical, ie: `'|| |'`) is the pole. This switch powers on the bluetooth module, but the board works over usb when the switch is off.

did you know
your work can be art
your life can be poetry
your parts are a whole

do you know
you are worthy
you are lovely
you are true?

can you see
that we are all just little creatures
in each moment on this big rock
doing the best we can
and that somehow
means
you are valuable
and worthwhile
and beautiful

just for being
the fire
the chaos
the life
the memory

that you are?

In other news, I added a bunch of M10 threaded inserts into the wood structure of the bed platform and now using eye bolts I can hang my hammock indoors :)

After the first bolt I realized that if up to the 10mm drill size I just go quite deep I don't need to shorten the eye bolts which was good because just cutting the one dulled my sawblade to the point that it is completely useless now 🙃
