I have just published my almost-annual article on the new features of SwiftUI and Swift as they apply to Mac apps:

I'm not using HTTP Cats this year, but the icon has a cat, so all is well.

Apple really gotta have some stern words with their talk coach. That "touching my outstretched fingers together right above my belt buckle" posture makes them all look like pod people.
Let people stand comfortably with their arms down. Let them gesticulate like they want, instead of having them pull their hands back together after catching themselves and aborting a gesture, making it look fake and half-hearted.
A couple weeks ago, I gave a talk at @omt_conf on What's New in Testing. That talk was recorded, but while I wait for it to be edited and published, I published an edited (and updated!) version of my speaker notes from that talk.
There's a lot new in testing since last year. I'm still surprised there wasn't a WWDC video about all the new things you can do.

It's early days yet in the Apple beta cycle and I'm not totally up-to-speed with all the changes, but I wrote up my impressions from WWDC 2025.

As it’s wont to do, Apple unveiled its updated operating systems at Monday’s #WWDC2025 keynote. There was a lot to process but these are the four items I think will impact most people.
WWDC 2025 Thoughts
I know I'm late to the party with some hot takes on this year's WWDC, but I thought WWDC 2025 was a good one which shows Apple beginning to fix some serious issues with its software layer.
And, yes, I am (after a decade) excited about the iPad again.
I wouldn’t mind so if Apple would just rein it in a bit and get rid of the more egregious aspects affecting legibility, information density, etc.
I actually kind of like the “glass” aspect, but a lot of this stuff clearly seems to be designed for the wow factor more than usability.
I realize that — like with iOS 7 — may be a process that takes a few releases to work out. I wish we’d had more time to offer feedback and for Apple to make corrections.

I totally missed this when it was adopted, but SE-0451 Raw Identifiers is included in Swift 6.2. Now functions/types can use (almost) any string in their name! Meaning this code is now valid:
@Test func `a readable name, yay!`() { }
It's now my favorite feature in swift 6.2. Which is very on brand for me.

@marioguzman is it because Steve had design sensibilities and was the gatekeeper between design fever dreams and reality and now that is gone it is all fever dreams without the NOs?
What can you do with on-device Apple Intelligence?
Multimodal? Rather not.

I did like this shot in the keynote. It looks simple, but there’s no camera or camera operator in the reflection of the Vision Pro. I bet it took some effort to get right. #wwdc2025
So I guess they still do C-Level interviews but just not with @daringfireball.
