Mad Alex<p>What should be my next book after I finish my current one (Stone and Sky by Ben Aaronovitch)? 📚 </p><p>:boostRequest: </p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/GreggHurwitz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GreggHurwitz</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/AnnLeckie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AnnLeckie</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MichaelConnelly" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MichaelConnelly</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ElizabethBear" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ElizabethBear</span></a></p>
RanaldClouston<p><a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/FinishedReading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FinishedReading</span></a> the short stories of <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/AnnLeckie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AnnLeckie</span></a> . The book is split into planetary <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/SciFi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SciFi</span></a> from her Imperial Radch universe, <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/fantasy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fantasy</span></a> fables in the world of Raven Tower, and miscellaneous stories. The connections to her novels are weak enough that you could read them without worrying about spoilers or missing context. If you want a hilarious, albeit not exactly representative, sample, 'The Sad History of the Tearless Onion' is only a page long and available on her website: <a href="https://annleckie.com/onion.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">annleckie.com/onion.html</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>. The quality level is maybe not quite as superlative as her incredible novels but I'd still read anything Ann Leckie writes. <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bookstodon</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>

Maybe not her absolute best work - I found it a bit exposition heavy - but given her best work stands among favourite reads ever, that's OK! Incredibly creative world building and a highly entertaining story. <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bookstodon</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Vehka Kurjenmiekka<p>Mulla on nyt ollut kohta puolentoista kuukauden ajan kesken tää Leckien erinomainen novellikokoelma. Oon usein näiden kanssa vähän hidas, koska jumitun johonkin yli 30 sivua pitkään novelliin, kun odotan sopivaa aloitushetkeä. (Kanish Tharoorin "Swimmer Among the Stars" -kokoelma on ollut mulla kesken kohta viisi vuotta.)</p><p>Nyt olen lukenut tästä ensimmäiset neljä. Päivittelen tänne myös lopuista paloissa sitä mukaa kun etenen, mutta tää on ollut jo nyt viehättävä kokoelma.</p><p><a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/KirjaMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KirjaMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/kirjat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kirjat</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/AnnLeckie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AnnLeckie</span></a></p>

Jennifer<p>It's raining really hard today (yay!) so doing miscellaneous things inside and listening to this audiobook. It's a sequel to the Ancillary Justice series and it's really weird. I like it! #FinishedReading the followup to #AnnLeckie 's Imperial Radch trilogy. Although it is set in a different milieu, very much recommended to read the Ancillary books first because the conclusion of that series is a plot point here. Leckie is one of the best in #SciFi for inventing alternative cultures and seeing how they can clash or cooperate; here the high concepts are wrapped in a fun and twisty, somewhat noirish, tale of murder and politics #Bookstodon @bookstodon

It’s time for a proper #introduction.

I’m a #GeekDad with two boys.
I’m current serving military, but don’t know any secrets!

I got to infosec.exchange just ahead of the main wave.
Somehow, through some early conversations and comments I managed to #RedTeam my way onto some lists of ‘good people to follow’.

On Twitter I stood at the back of the room and looked to people like you for information and perspective. Now it seems I’ve moved further into the room and people are looking at me and it feels like I’m taking the class ‘Introduction to#ImposterSyndrome’.

While I don’t work in #InfoSec I do relate strongly to the community and learn from you all.
I know enough to know it’s always #DNS (or #BGP)

At home I run #pfSense, #HomeAssistant and feed #ADS-B data to #FlightAware and #FlightRadar24.

My favourite #TWIT episodes are when @MikeElgan and @jeffjarvis go head to head.
