Anyone out there that can help me understand this #CrypticCrossword clue? (metro, fri 25th july)
Clue: Demonstrate point to five in church (6)
solution: EVINCE
The definition was easy to spot, "Demonstrate point", and then "five in" giving us the V, which is how I managed to solve it
But I have no idea how the letters "EINCE" can give "church"... The only word I see in there is NIECE and with all the will in the world I cant stretch that to mean church...

Showing my view on #watches. Finnish #crossword clue says ‘stone in watches’ and I just can’t fathom how it’s not ‘ruby’ and try to get the other words to somehow fit that.
Right answer: quartz.
Oh yeah, some very odd watches use that too.

I never imagined that creating a crossword would be so challenging. I made this one for my students. The words to solve it are cooking techniques.
I was annoyed that Exolve Player could not parse Guardian #cryptic #29,747 from just the text of the clues.
Yes, for most standard blocked #crosswords, it can create an interactive solver from just the text of the clues.
So I tweaked it, and now it can parse it (it can now also handle a few more cases involving linked clues).
