"MAGA and the manosphere may hate clean energy, but they won’t be able to stop the rise of renewables. All they can do, possibly, is stop the rise of renewables in the United States. Other nations, China in particular, are making huge investments in wind and solar power, because they understand what Trump and his allies refuse to acknowledge — that this is the only way forward."

"So while MAGA’s attempt to strangle clean energy will increase the risks of global climate catastrophe, it will also increase the risks of U.S. economic stagnation, forcing our nation to remain wedded to obsolete energy technologies while other countries march into the future."

#TrumpLies: “The birds are dying all over the place.”

#FactCheck: Turbines, like all infrastructure, can pose a risk to #birds. However, the National Audubon Society, which is dedicated to the #conservation of birds, thinks developers can manage these risks & #ClimateChange is a far greater threat. An #Audubon report found that ⅔ of North American bird species could face extinction due to rising #temperatures.

Africa: The Race Towards Clean Energy - a World Still Gripped By Coal: [IPS] United Nations -- Global investments in energy exceeded USD 3 trillion in 2024, with at least USD 2 trillion being invested in clean energy technology and infrastructure. Infrastructure. Despite that progress, fossil fuel consumption continues to rise with little sign of slowing. newsfeed.facilit8.network/TLsX #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #ClimateChange #FossilFuels

#TrumpLies: “If you look at smart countries, they don’t use it.”

#FactCheck: At least 136 countries & territories around the world use #WindPower to generate #electricity, acc/to the #EIA, with many countries growing the amount they produce. The top 5 markets for #wind power in 2024 were China, the US, Brazil, India & Germany, while Uzbekistan, Egypt & Saudi Arabia represent the next wave of wind #energy growth, acc/to the Global Wind Energy Council.

FACTS: The report highlighted China’s offshore #wind development, calling #China the undisputed leader in the offshore wind sector, though it also said #coal & #gas are still on the rise across China.

“The whole narrative that we’re led to believe in the West is that China is building coal plants & that it’s doing nothing for its #CarbonFootprint,” Tom Harper, partner at the global consultant Baringa, said.

For example, the share of #electricity generated from #wind in Iowa increased from 15% in 2010 to nearly 60% of the state’s electricity generation in 2023, while the state’s electricity rates grew at a rate slower than that of 42 other states, Pierpont’s research found.

#WindPower can be expensive if it’s built where winds are weaker, but the #US is adding it in places with strong wind resources, he added.

#TrumpLies, “Wind is a very expensive form of energy.”

Facts: Onshore #wind is one of the cheapest sources of #electricity generation, with new #WindFarms expected to produce electricity around $30 per megawatt hour. This compares to a new #NaturalGas plant, around $65 per megawatt hour, or a new advanced #nuclear reactor, which runs over $80, acc/to estimates from the #Energy Information Administration [#EIA].
