One time, I was playing tuba at an Algorave and my foot pedals crashed. I was forced to live code with one hand while playing tuba with the other. This was extremely suboptimal.

So I began to wonder how I might play tuba and live code at the same time. This is a problem the greatest minds of the century have turned their attention to, of course. My solution was to create a live coding language which is entered by playing the tuba itself.

Domifare takes it's commands from the vocabulary of solresol, an early ConLang.

Want to know more about this? Perhaps see it in action? Of course you do: Monday 14 July at Folklore in London, UK

Some more fun with Fabric / Satin

Thanks to Satin we have a ton of fun geometry to play with out of the box. Since we are node based, its easy to add environment maps and nice materials.

#swift#metal#gpu

Ok, heres a weird little project:

Dynamically compiled, runtime loaded Swift for live coding prototype.

This leverages a every so slighly modified Satin (a metal rendering engine) as a set of dylib libraries for the app, which also includes the modulemap and swiftmodule linker requirements.

We call swiftc on demand in a background process, compile, link, and hot load a renderer dylib, make an instance, and let Satin handle the rest.

I.. think this could be kind of awesome?

Ah..finally home with an energy drink in hand, in cooler clothes, and going to work on my @SDF toobnix #peertube stuff to broadcast #livecode practices and concerts, as well as my Nanny's amazing stories of being in an anti-segragationist family in the South in the 1950s! I will forget that #texans are pigs who have small dicks and need trucks. Since I PACKED groceries home and the only emissions were my own farts and swear words..in #norwegian #environment #relaxation

#Emacs and #LiveCode enthusiasts.

You may want to consider using the KeyCast package [1] and activating the mode:

```{.elisp}
(keycast-header-line-mode)
```

It reflects your key strokes at the *top* of your buffer. Mode lines get lost when you increase your font!

Continued thread

#GabbaZero

I implemented the event scheduler for the #audio thread, so now I can #livecode #Haskell #TidalCycles and #C #DSP in the same session (all in the same process, no OSC, using Hugs interpreter).

Still for me to do:
- ability to change cycles per second (possibly patternable, if I can figure out the intended semantics)
- make it so that typos or other errors in the Haskell don't exit the whole thing instantly (they said #EmbraceError , but...)
- fix the small bug that you need to save the C code after the thing has loaded to start making sounds
- stress test
- learn Tidal

Looking for live coders! —musicians and visualists— for a night of live code performances in an immersive projection environment.

Endemics Collective is hosting PLANET TKARONTO in Toronto, Canada on June 8, a satellite event for the International Conference on Live Coding 2024.
The call for performers with more info is at:
bit.ly/planet-tkaronto .

Live coding is inclusive and accessible to all. We are looking for performers who challenge conventional forms and techniques, disrupting traditional aesthetics and values, and who can engage with the audience directly in the art-or-music-making process, breaking down the barriers between artists and audiences. Performers from underrepresented groups or backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

#introduction

Hi, friends! My name is Sarah and I have joined this instance to help @yaxu and @highharmonics with admin and moderation.

I got involved with #livecode as an early member of @livecodenyc, though now I am in Berlin. I perform vis mostly as a member of Codie, but sometimes as an Electronic Detective, part of Cable Knit Sweater, or even as a one-off.

I love bright colors, SoCal vibes, and extremely critical art-computation. In terms of the community here, I am very motivated to support a diverse community, in terms of both identity and approaches to livecode. Anything to undermine hegemony. 😘

I can also be found @sarahghp.post.lurk.org.

Come #livecode with us!! Here's the open call for performers for our celebration of TOPLAP’s 20th anniversary.
We're looking for workshops, performances, installation, archival materials, volunteers and any other contributions. The event will be in-person right here in #brooklyn #nyc

Open Call: forms.gle/q1f5pTV4PiQrSt4g8
Deadline: Sunday, January 21, 2024
Event Dates: February 16-17, 2024

As always performers and attendees will be expected to follow the livecode.nyc code of conduct

Livecode.NYC is a New York City-based artist collective devoted to the real-time programming technique called livecoding, and exploring its potential as a methodology of artistic expressions. Our members include artists, engineers, actors, designers, educators, musicians, game developers, writers, and more. The leaderless collective has no formal membership or hierarchy; anyone is welcome to join, attend, participate in, and host events. Our work has been featured in The New York Times, VICE, The Financial Times, and Alternative Press. Please view our CV for a collection of past and similar events. About Livecoding Livecoding and Algoraves (algorithm + rave) are global movements. While traditional music and visual production processes are effectively opaque, a key component to livecoding is transparency, displaying the code and interfaces that produce the sights and sounds in real time. Some guiding principles of our community include: Exposing algorithmic processes, challenging established institutions and hierarchies, collaborative efforts with other communities, equitable practices of diversity and inclusion, and making space for experimentation and failure. What is TOPLAP? TOPLAP is an organization founded in 2004 in a smoky bar at Hamburg, to explore and promote livecoding. For the past 20 years, TOPLAP has grown a global community with local nodes all over the world, elevating the international livecoding scene. What is the intention of this event? In celebration of TOPLAP’s 20th anniversary and in line with our mission, this event is dedicated to providing tools and educational resources on livecoding, sharing the work we’ve been exploring as a collective, and connecting the communities in NYC and beyond. We aim to make livecoding accessible, and encourage process-driven creative coding practices that can be applied in many aspects of life. By expanding this community, we intend to generate more opportunities for emerging artists and individuals from marginalized communities to participate in the growing scenes of art and technology. Proposing: East London Error Club

Participants would be doing creative technology stuff.

Meetings would include: skill sharing, presentations about works in progress, live coding, a chance to workshop pieces and projects under development.

In short, a lot like the old Music Hackspace or Open Lab. Meeting schedules could be a longish meeting once a month, fornightly, or weekly meetings, each on a different part of the mission (eg, skill share followed by presentations followed by...)

This will require: a space where we can make noise that has good air circulation.

(Attn #Errorcamp participants, and other #LiveCode and #Tidal and #SuperCollider types)
