I was thinking earlier about how, for a relatively brief period, I was into Nine Inch Nails quite a bit. And then I wasn't, not really listening to them (him?) much these days. I thought I'd revisit The Fragile as it's got The Day The World Went Away and Starfuckers, Inc. on it.

Getting the 5.1 set up again gives me an excuse to dig out the DVD and SACD versions of The Downward Spiral. #nin

I had/have Nine Inch Nails first cd but I never really followed up much for various reasons. Caught the bits and pieces that popped up but someone just pointed me towards this "rehearsal" for Discipline. Gorgeously monstrous dirty guitars and bass. Might need to go back and listen to some of this stuff.

This performance… is not just a song. It’s a ritual.
Caked in mud, soaked in chaos, NIN took the stage at Woodstock '94 and unleashed something primal.
Reptile slithered through the noise like venom... hypnotic, filthy, irresistible.
I adore this version so much... it’s raw in a way few live moments ever are.
If you know more live performances with this kind of energy – please, I beg you, drop them.
I crave this vibe.
NIN is one of those bands where I only connect with a few tracks... but this one?
It’s No. 2 on my eternal top 100.
(Sorry Trent… No. 1 will always belong to TOOL. )

Tried everything, but only one track made it: Deadhead.
And damn... what a glorious punch to the chest. One of those “why can’t there be more like this?!” songs.

Okay, finished the main albums of #NIN, now time for Ghosts I-IV.
Today's #NIN album is The Fragile. I've heard this before. I couldn't figure out why I was getting a bunch of memories about my girlfriend from when I was 17 but then I started getting memories from MacOS 9 and then I realized I used to listen to this album back then. I think I first discovered how to use the equalizer in whatever mp3 program I used to use. Weird blast of unexpected nostalgia.
