Auf dem Weg zur #ECC25 (European Control Conference) in Thessaloniki. Die Reise mit dem Zug dahin dauert mehr als 2 Tage und ich freu mich, dass die Uni sowas möglich macht. Naja, zumindest sich nicht verbittet. :blobcatSip:
Dank der Stunden im bequemen #railjet ist auch mein Vortrag schon fertig.
Der Schlafwagen war der Gegenentwurf zu meiner letzten Erfahrung in China: laut, heiß, kurze Betten und keine ordentlichen Tische. Habe aber gut geschlafen mit #FensterAuf

I really like long-distance , it's so much more comfortable than by car or by plane. Here in Austria, trains are usually excellent, our national railway company has its own train series called and there isn't much lacking.

You can even order meals online right from your seat, and either pick up your order in the restaurant car or have it brought to your seat if traveling in 1st class.

Sounds good, doesn't it... if only there was anything available to order online ...

First leg of the #Interrail trip to Rome was a 1h ride from Verona to Bologna, with the same #Railjet that took us to Verona but in an older generation of carriages.

After a gelato stop in Bologna, we got on the high speed pride of the Trenitalia fleet, the #Frecciarossa 1000, going non-stop to Rome in a couple of hours.

We were fully reaping the benefits of 1st class: The box of snacks came with a (paper) cup of prosecco. Later the espresso trolley rolled through to serve freshly made coffee.
