(1/2) #Toolbox

@slamr@hub.uckermark.social I have no personal experience with it, but #Raindrop was recommended here as a #Pocket replacement (article in German) Raindrop.io als Ersatz für Pocket
With Pocket being sunsetted (good grief, Mozilla) I switched to Raindrop as my read-it-later service.
Alas – this is a bit of a problem. I’m already using Raindrop to power my link blog (following Sophie Koonin’s example here) and now it is a chaos. Which one is a link I saved to read later? Which one is going to the link blog? (Yes, I know. Folders. But still.)
And maybe even worse: when I move a bookmark from the “read it later” to the “link blog” pile, it retains its timestamp and will show up on my link blog in a different order than I intend it to be.
And yes, I know. I should just install Wallabag somewhere and be done with it. It wouldn’t be too hard to switch the data source for my link blog, either.

"Pine Needles and Rain Drops"
By Scott Loring Davis, Fine Art Photography https://pixels.com/profiles/scottloringdavis
Silhouetted against a pale sky, the fine needles of a pine branch spread outward, creating a striking contrast. The sharp, elongated shapes of the needles with raindrops at its tips give a sense of simplicity and elegance. I picked a good time to switch back to #Inoreader. It just announced support for saving stuff to #Raindrop.

Last week, Mozilla announced their plans to shut down Pocket.
I spent the weekend exploring alternatives to see which ones match my needs and wrote about what I found in my blog.
A lot of options! And while not all met my needs, they may be good options for you.

@naseer.eu Faktiskt bra att #pocket försvinner, annars hade jag inte upptäckt #raindrop som känns betydligt bättre...
I hear Mozilla is shutting down Pocket, and it took me back to my troubles with the app last year + my adventures to find a #FOSS replacement. I did Pocket → Omnivore → Raindrop, and I'm still loving Raindrop so far (+ its lovely RSS feed).

I highly recommend Raindrop to anyone looking for a Pocket alternative, and it's easy to migrate: https://raindrop.io/integrations/pocket
"Rain Drop on Spruce"
By Scott Loring Davis, Fine Art Photography https://pixels.com/profiles/scottloringdavis
Walking the shores of Lake Arrowhead one rainy day I come across a spruce tree and notice a lone droplet hanging delicately from the tip of a branch. READ MORE https://pixels.com/featured/rain-drop-on-spruce-scott-loring-davis.html
