I need a suggestion (or possibly confirmation) on what password manager to setup for my grandparents.

They’ve been using the same variant of one password for very long and are constantly forgetting it and resetting it to forget it again in a few months. I’ve offered to manage that for them but I’d like to use a separate password manager to the one I’m using (just so I don’t have all my eggs in one basket).

I’ve been using #protonpass since it was launched in beta and have been very happy. I was thinking of setting up #vaultwarden on my #synology NAS and maybe self hosting. The only requirement is that I need to be able to share passwords with them or other family members without them needing an account.

Server #Update / #Upgrade Day
- update my #Linux server OS #OpenSUSE Leap 15.6
- upgrade #Nextcloud from 30.0.7 to 30.0.12 and then 31.0.6
- upgrade #Redis for Nextcloud from 7 to 8
- learn that I have to dump/restore to upgrade #PostgreSQL and upgrade from 12 to 17
- upgrade #Traefik from 2.10.7 to 3.4.3
- upgrade #Vaultwarden to newest version
- deactivated #Quassel and #Jupyter since I didn't use them for at least 4 years
- clean up old #Docker images and containers to free some disk space

Interesting discovery using #Bitwarden#VaultWarden on #Ubuntu Desktop with #YubiKey Bio

There are 4 #Linux client options: Flatpak and Snap (both with full support), plus AppImage and .deb (no auto-updates).

Today I found that browser integration in #Firefox with biometric unlock only works for me via #AppImage and .deb.

#Flatpak and #Snap claim full support, but browser integration doesn’t work yet in my case.

Still, happy with #Bitwarden — the AppImage and .deb versions work great! 👌

I’m proud on Felix. He has come to the better side of the internet.

#linux, #firefox, @GrapheneOS, #vaultwarden, @joplinapp, @nextcloud, #mistralai and @Kodi sounds cool and with a video with 3M views, he has effectively promoted #opensource.

But it should also be said that not everyone needs to get ultra deep into the technical details (or have to use #archlinux) and do everything themselves. There are people out there to help you.

I'd like a solution to self-host services such as Vaultwarden, Immich and Home Assistant at home. I don't want to rely on cloud solutions for this so I'm thinking maybe along the lines of a Raspberry Pi for the Docker apps and a NAS for the backend storage, but I'm really clueless as what to get. I just know that I'd want something relatively simple and easy to maintain.

I'm also a bit of a Linux and Docker noob so I'm looking to get some advice and ideas from the Fedi community!

What would your suggestions be? What does your home lab setup look like?

Hello, I’m hosting a #Vaultwarden server behind #Caddy 2.10 and made the following test:

Tuning Caddy to allow only #PQC curves:

	tls {
		curves x25519mlkem768
	}

Trying to connect with #Firefox Mac -> OK
Trying to connect with #Bitwarden #android client -> Fail

Without the #TLS tuning, the Bitwarden Android client will happily connect to the server.

Is it a problem with the Bitwarden Android client or with Android, or both?

#1Password 7 doesn't work so well for me in macOS Sequoia. It often takes invoking the keyboard shortcut multiple times to fill in in FIrefox (I haven't tried the other browsers). So I thought I'd give #Vaultwarden (#Bitwarden clone) a try. I discovered that it doesn't automatically import attachments, nor does it support markdown format in item notes, which I use heavily. Although I've invested a lot of time self-hosting Vaultwarden, this may be enough to cause me to use 1Password 8. 🤢
