John would be so disappointed. He'd have nothing to show at the board meeting. Another supportive boss who'd be let down by him.
He made himself a cup of tea, two bags for extra punch. He sat down by the window and watched the sky getting brighter. The bird songs were now full-up to noise level. He'd have to call John first thing, perhaps just before nine. John would try to hide his disappointment, but things would be different afterwards.
Then he felt a presence. His guardian angels had gathered around him. The birds had stopped singing.
