@blogdiva you literally only have to select one button on the standard #Mastodon post widget to get the #AltText automatically generated for you on such images, but the lazy bastards won't do it.

The degree of entitlement and privilege is colosal.

I'm now at the stage where I'm unfollowing people who post images of text without alt text. Pretty soon I'll be blocking. If this is how folk choose to treat people less able than themselves, I'm not interested in anything they have to say.

@JimmyKip There's these images listing several events, I apologise for the lack of #AltText but I can't type it right now. Happy to edit and add it later if someone can help with #ALT4me.

It's laziness...the idea being that since it's all text with no pictures to describe, people should be able to read and understand the text without having to retype it again for the #AltText. As if copypasta didn't exist.

Also, Reich and some others use the bird.makeup (sp?) service that reposts their tweets from Xchitter over here to the Fedi. That service may not do #AltText well.

@GeriAQuin @mkwadee does a daily #calvinandhobbes with #alttext. I look forward to it each day.

Präzisierung zum #alttext: Es ist kein stetig fallender Trend von den 1990ern bis 2020. Die Zahlen fallen bis ca. 2010 auf um die 30000 und bleiben dann auf etwa gleichem Niveau, bis sie 2020 plötzlich auf ca. 22000–23000 einknicken und für 1 Jahr etwa gleich bleiben. Nach 2021 ist ein schneller Anstieg zu beobachten. Die Zahlen scheinen sich seit 2023 bei ca. 27000 zu stabilisieren.

Hat mal jemand die Kurve der Homeoffice-Quote darüber gelegt?
