A #rootserver at the #Internet’s core lost touch with its peers. We still don’t know why.
For 4 days, the c-root server maintained by #Cogent lost touch with its 12 peers.
This server, maintained by Internet carrier Cogent Communications, is one of the 13 root servers that provision the Internet’s root zone, which sits at the top of the hierarchical distributed database known as the domain name system, or #DNS.

Looks like #Cogent fixed C-root lag. At least from where I look at it:

Hé bah #pasbravo a #COGENT qui laisse ses DC tellement pourrir que de l'eau s'infiltre et fait tomber les équipements.
Ca fait depuis samedi midi (donc 3 bons jours révolus) que ça peut pas être relancés en sécu.

On dit quoi à ces gens qui s'en mettent plein les fouilles ?

This is quite rare - the C root-servers are out of sync with the rest of the world by 3 days. Since that time there have been no changes in the root zone, except for DNSSEC signature updates. It appears all C instances (operated by #cogent) are serving an outdated zone. For now this has no operational impact, but that might change #DNSSEC - UPDATE, c-root received an update and now only lags behind by 1 day now. UPDATE2: fixed.
