XWiki will be at it-sa 2025 this October in Nuremberg!
The event focuses on digital trust, secure tools, and regaining control over tech — all things we care about deeply.
7–9 October
Hall 9, Booth 147 – NürnbergMesse
Join us to talk open-source knowledge sharing, documentation, and digital sovereignty.
Fragen, die keiner hören will...
@fsfe Are you aware of @civio's work about opening the source for a public program, BOSCO? I think it aligns with the #publiccode campaign. They've recently been on the Spanish Supreme Court fighting for it.
In case you're not, here are some links (in Spanish):
- How we've defended at the Supreme Court the transparency of public algorithms: https://civio.es/novedades/2025/07/08/vista-oral-bosco-civio-supremo/
- Bono-social tag at Civio's blog: https://civio.es/tag/bono-social/
Have a good day!
If it is public money, it should be public code as well! I support @fsfe's call for more #publiccode: https://publiccode.eu/en/
It's now basically impossible to log in to @EUCommission portal if you use GNU/Linux or other libre platforms.
The "EU Login Mobile App" is closed-source, which I refuse to install. No passwd or libre OTP option available.
It's a disgrace that the #EU forces their citizens to use propietary, closed source operating systems and applications.
Now we can not update news or releases of #GNUhealth in OSOR/JoinUP/Interoperable Europe until they change this rubbish portal. And we've been there since 2011.

European open source deserves the spotlight
Choosing local, open alternatives means you stay in control, not some global megacorp.
If digital sovereignty matters to you (and it should), now’s the time to support the ecosystem.
We’ve put together a list of EU-built tools that respect your rights and your data.

On 10 June, our CEO, @ldubost , will be in Warsaw at the APELL Conference to talk about building sustainable open source.
His talk?
“Sustainable Open Source: XWiki’s Paying Apps Model in Practice”
It’s time Europe supports models that keep open source strong and sovereign.
We’re excited to join the conversation at @apell If you want to say hi, register to participate: https://apell.info/apell-conference-2025-warsaw/
A simple principle:
If software is paid for with public money, it should be available to the public as Free Software.
This fosters transparency, collaboration, and efficiency.

Why should Europe care about digital sovereignty?
Because billions are spent yearly on tech that takes our data out of our hands. Because proprietary lock-in isn't freedom.
At @xwiki we believe open source is Europe’s path forward. From privacy to control, it’s time to rethink our digital strategy.

We asked @BenCerveny from the
@publiccode What should the priorities for the digital commons. https://commons.ngi.eu/videos/
The digital commons are essential, yet remain underrepresented in traditional NGO frameworks.
So how do we build a resilient, participatory structure around these shared digital infrastructures?
We’d love to hear your thoughts.
