TJMaggie (3D):<br> <br> It's 3D Saturday! I've Kept this from last week just to post it today! I think there is a bit of ghosting there but probably the effect is clearer on the lower portion of the image more than the middle and upper. I think it would have been stronger if it was converted to B&amp;W but I didn't get to try it out.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/3d?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#3d</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/saturday?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#saturday</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/anaglyph?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#anaglyph</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/illusion?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#illusion</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/stereogram?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#stereogram</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/stereograph?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#stereograph</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/pot?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#pot</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/plant?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#plant</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/nature?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#nature</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/natural?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#natural</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/goodmorning?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#goodmorning</a>

TJIt's 3D Saturday! I've posted a normal shot for this one (well, kinda normal), and today I've found out that I do have a 3D version! Apparently shot with my favorite fisheye lens (Rokinon 8mm) and doing anaglyphs with a fisheye lens is always tricky. Anyway, to my eyes, it looks 3D-ish with depth; try it out!<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/anaglyph?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#anaglyph</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/3d?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#3d</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/monument?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#monument</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/birds?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#birds</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/pigeons?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#pigeons</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/fisheye?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#fisheye</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/illusion?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#illusion</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/stereogram?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#stereogram</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/stereograph?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#stereograph</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/goodmorning?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#goodmorning</a>
Triq Tas-Sema (3D); 2015

This shot (and another one from Ireland taken in 2009) is one of those rare shots that I've literally stopped gazing mindlessly before shooting it, meditating in its majesty. Where I live, we don't quite get such clouds formations, thus seeing something like that, in a quiet countryside pathway, induces amazing feelings of joy deep inside of me. I wanted to just sit there and gaze, forgetting everything about my problems, and my camera and photography altogether. Luckily, back home, I've realized that I've made two shots of the scene so I was able to merge them in one anaglyph. Making anaglyphs out of fisheye shots is quite tricky as well, but I think this one ended up well. Another strange thing about this anaglyph as well is that the B&W version didn't quite work well it seems; usually, colors cause ghosting and hence anaglyphs perform better in B&W to perceive the depth or the illusion better. However, this is not the case here, where the colored version is relatively better in depth than the B&W!

***Note: I tried my best to match the original colors of the image here on Pixelfed, using the provided filters, since the color space is not recognized and the colors change significantly. I will leave a link in the comments to the one with the original colors posted on Cara.

#genuary11 - Impossible Day. Inspired by a comment on another fractal I posted suggesting it looked like a "Magic Eye" image, I wanted to try turning a fractal image into a 3D autostereogram. Maybe not impossible, but certainly ambitious for a genuary post. I came up with two variations - the first one where each layer of the fractal is rendered at a slightly different zoom level to give the perception of depth. The other uses a depth mask to embed a 3D image by shifting pixels of individuals rows. #stereogram #autostereogram #magiceye #genuary #genuary2025

Currently making View Master discs for a show in San Francisco. Made using transparency film and laser cut recycled paper, the work will be displayed on this vintage (1950s) View Master.

This work is about fog and trans visibility and is part of a larger body of work on the same subject.

Thinking about the potential of low/no power display technologies of the past and what their formal qualities (in this case 7 stereographic images in intimate proximity of the body) might offer.
