My weight ballooned until not only did I have to take out all the tucks in my waistband, it got so bad that I couldn't even zip it up anymore. I had to just lock the zip halfway.</p><p>Since giving up chocolate wasn't making me lose weight, a couple of months ago I went back to buying chocolate and crisps. My trousers now fit. I'm pretty sure I'm consuming more calories now than I was when I gave up (the only other junk I bought was the biscuits I have at breakfast). I eat pretty much the same meals in the same portions every day, I am a creature of habit. My tummy hasn't gone down enough to take in the waist again, but I can do up the zip comfortably. And I've been keeping chocolate in my room, so I'm eating a lot. 200g bar in less than a week.</p><p>Before I started eating chocolate again, I was having to basically skip lunch for several days to get any weight off my tummy. I would just play video games all day until dinner. If I didn't, it was back to not being able to zip up my trousers.</p><p>I don't know how this works. Has anyone else had such an experience? A web search brings up a study showing that eating chocolate doesn't make you gain weight, but nothing about it making you lose weight, or at least lose tummy fat (my weight never evenly distributes. I have twig arms, and all the weight goes to my tummy).</p><p><a href="https://autistics.life/tags/diet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>diet</span></a> <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/chocolate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>chocolate</span></a> <a href="https://autistics.life/tags/weight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>weight</span></a></p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/actuallyautistic" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>actuallyautistic</span></a></span></p>

emeritrix<p>What's the relation between weight and health? <br>Trick question: there isn't one.</p><p>"[H]ealth issues that get blamed on being higher-weight may actually be due to weight stigma and/or weight cycling and/or healthcare inequalities" or other "health issues might be impacting weight."</p><p>Ragen Chastain's Weight and Healthcare Substack is excellent. The posts are always informative, clear, thoughtful, short, valuable. If you are under the mistaken impression that weight correlates with health, you can begin to unlearn that prevalent misconception. If you already know that there's no relation between health and weight, you can still learn a lot about the details of GLP-1 antagonists and how they are prescribed, the bias that fat people encounter in health care settings, the actual research on weight and health. I really appreciate how consistently Chastain pursues these questions. Worth a follow, if you do the substack thing.</p><p><a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Fat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fat</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/FatPositive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FatPositive</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/HAES" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HAES</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Weight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Weight</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Health" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Health</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://weightandhealthcare.substack.com/p/research-questions-the-relationship" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">weightandhealthcare.substack.c</span><span class="invisible">om/p/research-questions-the-relationship</span></a></p><p><a href="https://weightandhealthcare.substack.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">weightandhealthcare.substack.c</span><span class="invisible">om/</span></a></p>
Adam MacLeod<p>Can anyone recommend a modern body weight scale that is accessible, either via self-voicing, or bluetooth connection? If via self-voicing, anything that doesn't shout the measured weight so loud, that anyone within 500 feet can hear it? Anyone who has used these products in the past will most certainly be aware that the "blind equals deaf" stereotype that is clearly pervasive in the overwhelming majority of these products. I'm hoping there is something out there that does not make this assumption, and has a volume adjustment beyond mute and yell.<br>Thank you in advance for your suggestions.<br><a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/Body" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Body</span></a> <a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/Weight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Weight</span></a> <a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/Scale" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Scale</span></a> <a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/health" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>health</span></a> <a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>blind</span></a> <a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/accessible" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>accessible</span></a> <a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/A11Y" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>A11Y</span></a> <a href="https://fedi.adamm.cc/tags/BlindDoesNotEqualDeaf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BlindDoesNotEqualDeaf</span></a></p>
Cynni's Blog<p><strong>Journal – Week 28, July&nbsp;2025</strong></p> <p>It was a weird week, a difficult week. Memories, tears, loss of routine, pain, grieving… I was very grateful for my mum still being with me. And she brought Bas with her for two nighs, and that really helped me. This week, I am still not in the mood for music. Haven’t litened to music in quite a bit, I am just not in the mood. All of the usual pixtures I normally share… I can’t take any new snaps, my big love is gone… If I can find the spoons, then I may try to edit some older snaps of Arwen to add to this post. But it’s just so hard. Looking at pictures of her… Memories, tears, longing to have her back at my side… On Saturday morning, we picked up her urn, so she’s back home, in a way… I can still feel her love and her support in my heart, I just can’t feel her anymore… </p> <p>The week started a little colder and wetter, but as the days passed by, the warmer days were slowly returning. </p> <p>Quick links to the days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday &amp; Sunday.</p> <p> […]</p> <p><a href="https://cynnisblog.wordpress.com/2025/07/15/journal-week-28-july-2025/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">cynnisblog.wordpress.com/2025/</span><span class="invisible">07/15/journal-week-28-july-2025/</span></a></p>

“Our surprising findings reveal that low cysteine levels triggered rapid fat loss in our study mice by activating a network of interconnected biological pathways,” said Evgeny A. Nudler, Ph.D., a Professor at NYU and HHMI investgator. “While driving weight loss in the clinic remains a key future mission, we are most excited for the moment about the profound, fundamental aspects of metabolism revealed in this study."
