«Just a few minutes after the Online Safety Act went into effect last night, Proton #VPN signups originating in the #UK surged by more than 1,400%.

Unlike previous surges, this one is sustained, and is significantly higher than when #France lost access to adult content.» - #ProtonVPN

I guess the same statistics applies to all the other consumer vpn vendors.

With a pseudonym (made up name) on #mastodon and a single-use email, you can post with a fair amount of antonymy about:

1. Government and officials.
2. Your perspective on hot topics.
3. Things you give a shit about. Like coffee and dogs.
4. You can post it now and later change your mind.
5. Market around your new pseudonym and grow a reputation. Or don't and shit post away.
6. Post about important subjects or the frivolous.
7. Make a point about a repost, or not.
8. Photos that are lovely that everyone loves.
9. Teach us something useful.
10. Make shit up for cash and prizes!

Making great strides in my privacy journey! 🚀 I've switched one of my two laptops to Linux (easier than expected, the other will follow after I am off OneNote), using Tuta Mail (the best 😉) , Signal, and just bought a new laptop from Tuxedo. Plus, Qwant is now my go-to search engine — easiest switch ever! 🎉

Open Source statt Paywall. Verständnis statt Konsum.

Was hat euch damals fasziniert?
Habt ihr Empfehlungen für freie Tools, Projekte oder Bücher, die Kids empowern – mit Fokus auf Technik, Datenschutz und digitale Selbstbestimmung?

Danke euch schon jetzt! 🙏

Google Discover’s AI Overviews are now live for iOS and Android in the U.S., offering summaries directly in the feed 📱. This threatens news publishers by reducing traffic and ad revenue 💸.

While users get quick info, many fear fewer clicks and less visibility for their sites 🔍. With AI taking over, will smaller publishers survive? 🤔

Microsoft’s Copilot Vision now allows Windows insiders to share their entire desktop with AI for real-time analysis 👀.

While it promises convenience, this raises serious privacy concerns 🛑. Users must opt in, but the potential for unwanted data collection is real.

Is it worth trading privacy for productivity? 🤔
