#Claude4 Sonnet and I spent the past two days adding two new modules to our ScrapMaster browser dashboard. Now, we have added a Contextual Dictionary to our Text Viewer module that is used to read any text files downloaded directly from Archive.org. We will continue to add more #AI modules for analyzing and summarizing these free text and pdf based E-books. Eventually, I will be using some small #LLMs to analyze the #Hebrew #Bible and some #Sanskrit #Buddhist scripts.

Today, the full-moon day of the fourth month ("aashaada") of the #Hindu luni-solar calendar, is "guru poornimaa" in #India and elsewhere.

In #Sanskrit, "guru" is teacher; "poornimaa" is full moon (literally "state of fullness"). The day honors teachers. So, as they say, "shree gurubhyoh namah", or "salutation to the teacher".

#Trivia: This year's "guru poornimaa" falls on Thursday ("guru waasara"), the weekly day of teachers. There's more to the weekday name "guru waasara", but that's for a rainy day.

Anyone else using #anki flashcards as a learning aid? What an incredible tool! I am building a #sanskrit learning program based off the देववाणीप्रवेशिका. I think what I like most is it has limits (that you can change of course) and engineering such that you learn a lot without banging your head against hours and hours of labour. This makes the process actually pleasant. As a longtime #autodidactic #unschooler, I believe if learning is a drag most students will drop the subject matter.

#Hindu gods are often depicted with right palm held in a "blessing" pose. That pose is called "warada hasta" or "abhaya hasta", which are #Sanskrit phrases:

- warada वरद, means granting
- abhaya अभय, no fear

I wondered, naively, if it might be possible to get to the infinitive of a #Sanskrit verb from a conjugation in a fairly straightforward way, without having to wait until I've fully mastered Devanagari and memorized a whole load of conjugations.

We make words and sentences in a language, but we write them in a script. Text from a language can be written in different scripts. And text from different languages can be written in the same script. #writing #distinction

Both #Sanskrit and #Hindi texts are primarily written in #Devanagari script. And it is quite common to write Sanskrit text (especially scriptures) in the scripts of other Indian #languages.

Merriam-Webster mentions the possibility of tumult deriving from Sanskrit but only tentatively. Wiktionary and a few others I have access to make no mention.
