Verizon’s request to lock phones supported by police, opposed by users

With #Verizon seeking permission to lock phones to its network for six months or longer instead of the current 60 days, a coalition of advocacy groups yesterday urged the Federal Communications Commission to reject the #cellular carrier's petition.

#Verizon Home Internet at our house has been struggling to maintain even -100 dBm, and upstream has been steadily decaying for months. Unloaded latencies are sometimes as much as 1–2 SECONDS! #Tmobile gets -80 dBm here. Picked up a Tmo gateway this evening. 🤞

Breaking #FakeNews: Trump Organization announces new smartwatch: The Trumpwatch. It tells time twice a day, includes Pete Hegseth's private messages, and comes with a one-month subscription to Trump Sausages.

Supported and signed off by all major carriers, such as AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

Please note that you agree to be charged any amount of money at any time, no returns.

I found an odd kind of bug in the router provided by #Verizon for #Fios. I wanted to set up a static route to a second internal network I have, 192.168.64.0/29 and it repeatedly fails. The gateway to this network is a Linux machine with IP Forwarding enabled and filtering rules enabling forwarding between the appropriate interfaces. However, the route will just not add. When I add the routing information manually to my desktop, it works just fine so I know it is a strange bug in the router firmware itself.

Fiber is great, but from my viewpoint, Verizon Fios is awful, but only because they never came here. Fios was promised to nearly ever town in the country, by Verizon, and often they would build networks through your town, just so they could service the town next door, without providing service to you.

I wish DSL Reports dot Com was still online. There were so many horror stories concerning Verizon Fios.

#Verizon asks for an end to its #phone unlocking requirements
Verizon faces phone unlocking requirements from its acquisition of 700MHz spectrum in 2008, and it's acquisition of prepaid provider TracFone in 2021. Requires when a customer buys a phone from Verizon it's locked to Verizon's network for 60 days, so that they can only use it with a Verizon SIM card. After 60 days, Verizon automatically unlocks the phone, allowing customer to use another carrier's network.
