“Ava Community Energy is putting $10 million toward helping around 8,000 to 9,000 Alameda County residents and customers of the agency living in Stockton, Tracy or elsewhere pay for an e-bike purchased from a local shop.
The launch of the program follows a wave of interest in e-bike incentives, including a state-run voucher program that drew nearly 100,000 applicants for 1,500 spots, awarding up to $2,000 per bike. Berkeley also ran a year-long pilot program that provided free e-bikes to 56 residents.
Unlike those programs, most of Ava’s rebates are not restricted by income.”
